Behind the Science: Celsius Helps You Work Out Better
Posted on February 27th, 2009 by Celsius Lover in Celsius BlogCelsius has a handful of scientific studies under its belt already, but reading those studies is always pretty tough. Celsius’ fourth study, conducted in June 2008, tests the effects of Celsius while working out. The 10 week study had a group of people drink a Celsius 15 minutes before working out and compared their fat burning, muscle generation, cardio-respiratory fitness (how well your body uses oxygen), and time-to-exhaustion (how long you can work out before quitting) to a group that drank a placebo (a generic soda).
The PDF of the study is linked here: Effects of Celsius on Exercise Study But the 12 pages report may be much to read through. Let me summarize the results here.
When compared to the group that drank the placebo the group that drank Celsius burned 93.8% more fat and gained 50% more fat-free muscle. They also outperformed the placebo group in cardio-respiratory fitness (VO2peak) by 62.5% and and a time-to-exhaustion that was longer by 32.5%.
Those last two figures are pretty good, but not as amazing as the first two. Let me break it down again.
If you drink a Celsius before you work out, you could burn 93.8% more fat than if you drank a regular diet soda. While working out, you create muscle, and when you have a Celsius before exercise, the muscle you create could be 50% leaner.
So not only will that can of Celsius burn an extra 100 calories, it will help your body work smarter, burn more fat, and build better muscle.
Include Celsius in your pre-workout regimen, maybe in the car on the way to the gym or while you’re stretching out and catching up with your gym buddies, and you will definitely have a much better work out. You don’t need to work out harder, Celsius will help you work out smarter.

my issue is everything about it sounds great..I have even purchased it to try before recommending to my clients (personal trainer) but I am extremely bummed that it has “sucralose”!! why cant you use a natural sweetner. this really is horrible for anyone. I believe that artificial anything in the body is just plain toxic!
cant you find a better way to sweeten or maybe make it unsweetened and allow people to try it with the flavor alone of peach mango, or orange??
lol one or two of the observations visitors enter are just absurd, commonly i question if they even read the subject matter and reports before writing or whether they just simply skim the title of the post and compose the initial thought that comes to mind. in any event, it is really nice to read through intelligent commentary occasionally as opposed to the exact same, traditional blog vomit that i regularly discover on the web i’m going to play a couple of rounds of facebook poker cheers

I feel like the study cited here is a bit off–wouldn’t a valid placebo/control group have been water? Or even no beverage at all, apart from standard hydration? Other studies have shown that soda, specifically, carbonated drinks in combination with high amounts of sugar/high fructose corn syrup are detrimental to proper metabolism during exercise… just some thoughts. I love the drink, but more science, please!
